Welcome to New Trainees!

January and February are always exciting AND busy for the Georgia MGEV Program as we welcome new people into our training classrooms all over the state. This year, we have more than 300 individuals preparing to support Extension projects and programming by completing their classroom training.

We welcome each of you to Georgia’s MGEV Program! As I have mentioned in the Introduction class, you are in for a fantastic experience! You will learn more than you ever thought or imagined about plants, gardening, and horticulture. Yes, you will make it through those chapters in the Georgia Master Gardener Handbook, and you’ll mark pages that you’ll visit often. Your Handbook will be resource that you use over and over again as you answer questions and solve problems from the public.

Those of you who are veteran MGEVs are a huge resource to these new volunteers. Please take time to introduce yourself and get to know them. Share project details so that trainees have a good idea of which projects they want to support when the classroom sessions are done. Let them know what you enjoy most about being a Georgia MGEV.

In case you missed these important resources for your MGEV journey, here are links to our publications:

We are so glad that you are here! We look forward to working with you as we all share our love of plants and gardening with others!
