Since I began this position in March 2019, I’ve always wanted to host a science and environmental education blog.  It gives me a chance to redeem myself from that awful blog I was required to create as part of my Piedmont College 101 class (did anyone really care that I had Calculus homework Tuesday night?), but, perhaps more importantly, it gives me another platform to share about what I love best – 4-H youth development in the context of science and environmental education.

Each county 4-H program is unique, and a set of packaged programs does not necessarily meet a community’s needs. Based on local interests as well as resources and support, there are a variety of programs and curricula available to support science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) initiatives in Georgia 4-H.  Keep in mind that STEM is not just teaching science, technology, engineering, and math. It is the interdisciplinary approach to using science and engineering practices in project-based, problem-solving, inquiry-driven activities.

Resources on this blog will support 4-H professionals, volunteers, families, and youth in 4-H science-related endeavors.  This blog is intended to empower individuals to have the resources and tools necessary to confidently lead science programs.  Stay tuned … the best is yet to come!
