If you have ever flown in an airplane, you may have felt some bumps along the way as the plane navigated through an area of turbulent air. While those bumps can be scary to new fliers, most seasoned fliers know that a little jumpy air is not that unusual and is usually more of an inconvenience than anything else. But severe turbulence can cause injuries or in rare cases, even deaths, mostly to people who are moving around the cabin instead of strapped in their seats, because sudden changes in height can cause people to fly up in the air and hit their heads on the ceiling of the airplanes, causing head injuries. The most likely people to be affected are the flight attendants, who often have to be moving around the cabin while most of us are buckled in.
