The latest 7-day QPF map shows a band of heavy rain stretching across the southern parts of Alabama and Georgia as well as the Florida Panhandle and the coastal Carolinas due to a stationary front that is expected to serve as the focus from numerous thunderstorms, especially this weekend and early into next week. After that, the heaviest rain will start to move toward the east and there is some potential for a tropical storm to develop along the remains of the front off the East Coast, which could bring more rain to the Carolinas and into Virginia. I plan to write more about the tropics in my next blog post, which should appear in your inbox on Tuesday morning.
