Here is a handy guide to classifying different types of clouds, as presented by The Weather Channel. Clouds are classified by shape and height and whether or not they are raining (or snowing). The guide will provide you with visual examples of different types of clouds and how they relate to the weather that is happening where the clouds have formed. If you know what type of cloud you are seeing, you can often predict how the weather is likely to change in the next day or so. If you really like to see cloud pictures, then I suggest going to the Cloud Appreciation Society website and looking at their wonderful gallery of clouds.
