The latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows that there were minor improvements in drought across most of the region this week based on rainfall that occurred before Tuesday morning. It is likely that additional improvements may be seen on next week’s map from rain that fell after the cutoff time. Drought got worse in small parts of Virginia and in southeast Florida due to the lack of rain there. Abnormally dry conditions returned to the south coast of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands this week.
