The final outlook for July 2024 shows that the Southeast is expected to experience a strong heat wave for July 2-8, contributing to a likely July temperature that is expected to be warmer than normal. You can read more about the heat wave at https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/key_messages/LatestKeyMessage_1.png. Based on the warmer than normal temperatures coupled with precipitation that shows a lower tendency towards wet conditions away from the coast, NOAA is predicting that drought may be come more widespread across the northern part of the Southeast during July through September. Drought conditions may be removed in southern Georgia and into Florida based on the likelihood of wetter than normal conditions, most likely due to the expected active tropical season this year.
