NOAA released their seasonal forecast for the Atlantic tropical season today. As expected, it shows that a very active season is expected, with 17 to 25 named storms expected and 8-13 hurricanes likely. This matches the forecast by Colorado State issued a few weeks ago. You can read the NOAA press release at https://www.noaa.gov/news-release/noaa-predicts-above-normal-2024-atlantic-hurricane-season. Hurricane preparation tips can be found at https://www.noaa.gov/hurricane-prep. The list of names for this year are shown in the graphic below. And right on time, there is another area of potential development in the Atlantic, but it is only 10% and if anything forms it is headed out to the central Atlantic so will not affect any land.
