The latest 7-day QPF map shows that the heaviest rain this week should be in northern and higher elevations, which are generally inland from coastal areas. There could be up to 3 inches in a few isolated spots. There will be rain this weekend followed by a couple of mostly dry days. Another rain system will come in late in the week and will drop the heaviest rain in the Southern Appalachians. Not much relief for the Florida Peninsula, where drought has developed again due to little rain in the last month. Week 2 shows cooler conditions in the northern parts of the region and a bit more likelihood of rain in Florida, then back to drier conditions in Weeks 3 and 4. I expect that there could be some chance of severe weather ahead of the cold front that will come in late in the week, but the Storm Prediction Center shows the probability as too low to forecast at this point.
