The latest monthly global climate summary was released by NOAA earlier this week. It shows that for the earth as a whole, May was the third warmest in records that date back to 1880. There was also a record-low amount of sea ice for May in the Antarctic, a big change from a few years ago when sea ice covered more of the Antarctic than usual. You can read more at NOAA News at Earth saw its 3rd-warmest May in 174 years | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (noaa.gov) or look at the report at May 2023 Global Climate Report | National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) (noaa.gov). Notice that the East Coast of the US was one of the few places in the Western Hemisphere that was not warmer than average.
