With just a couple of days to go in June, here is a preliminary look at the monthly climate. Nearly all of the region was warmer than normal and drier than normal. The only exceptions were southern Florida and parts of eastern North Carolina and Virginia. Since it has rained across a lot of the Southeast in the last day, we can expect the precipitation departures to weaken slightly from the late addition of rain. The lack of rain coupled with very high temperatures significantly affected growing plants, many of which are near peak water use, and increased drought across the region.
