The Royal Meteorological Society of the UK has produced an excellent teacher’s guide to teaching high school students about weather and climate. While it is geared towards the weather and climate of Great Britain, the basic outline and materials are of course applicable to the US as well. You can find it here. It contains chapters on weather instruments, climate types, urban climate and microclimates, rainfall and pressure, air masses, and climate change in the UK.
