As of yesterday, we have already had ten named storms in the Atlantic, and the latest seasonal forecast says we can expect another 10-12 more named storms. Even if only a couple of them hit near Georgia, they could be devastating. So now is a great time to take advantage of the temporary lull in storms to get ready, if you have not already. The Georgia Emergency Management Agency has a great publication with a lot of useful information about what to do before, during, and after a storm. It also includes storm surge maps for the Georgia coast and information on their Ready Georgia App, which is one of the few apps that I recommend for use during hurricanes. You can find it at https://www.weather.gov/media/chs/misc/GAHurricaneGuide.pdf.

If you are in a different state, your state emergency management agency probably has a lot of useful information too. You can search the FEMA web site for your location at https://www.fema.gov/locations.
