If you have ever been to Miami, you might agree that it is hard to find anything that looks like a native ecosystem. So I was very interested to read this article in Atlas Obscura describing the small remnants of pine rocklands, an endangered native forest that is located in just a few spots in and around Miami, and efforts to save it. You can read more about what Zoo Miami and others are doing to clear away the invasives and recreate the original ecosystem at https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/visit-miami-vanishing-forest.

Welcome to the pine rocklands, one of the world’s most endangered habitats. FRANK RIDGLEY
