The long string of dry days combined with very high temperatures has put the corn crop in parts of the Southeast at risk. In many places there has been no rain since May 12, and while some crops like peanuts and cotton have less need of rain now, corn is at a critical stage which requires moisture for the pollination to work properly to fill out the ears. If rain is not received soon, farmers may see ears that are only partly filled. You can read more at the Southeast Farm Press here.
