Widespread heavy rains across the Southeast with up to ten inches in a few isolated locations have put a major dent in drought conditions across the region. Many places had drought and abnormally dry conditions completely removed. Others saw the areal coverage of drought reduced by up to two categories. Now there are only a few isolated pockets of moderate drought left. Rains of up to six inches in the coming week will probably eliminate most of the remaining dry conditions from the region.
