Fortune magazine posted an interesting article late in June on the complicated relationship between farmers and their acceptance of climate change.  Fortune points out that farmers are among the most likely to be affected by climate change, and yet are one of the least likely groups to accept the scientific evidence for it, even though they accept evidence of the safety of GMO crops from scientists with a similar degree of certainty.  The article discusses Monsanto’s work to help teach farmers to adapt to a changing climate while improving their bottom line.  I think it is an interesting discussion about the challenges that extension agents and scientists have in communicating science to the public, particularly when politics gets involved.
