I’ve lived in Georgia for the past 15 years, and have only seen one Christmas week that had some snow.  It’s no surprise that we don’t often get snow on Christmas Day because we are too far south to get the cold air that makes snow possible most of the time.  This year most of the East Coast will be in the same boat, since the warm conditions we’ve experienced all month are expected to continue for the next few weeks.

Here is a model output showing the chance of snow on Christmas Day across the US.  Even my parents up in Michigan, which climatologically has a 65 percent chance of a snowy Christmas (see second map), are unlikely to see snow this year (although they’ve already had a couple of inches which all melted away in the current warmth).  You can check the map if you’re traveling to see if your chances are better somewhere else.
