I’ve worked with farmers in southern Georgia who are expanding into new crops that can be sold in markets as “local” produce if they are grown in-state.  These crops include olives and satsumas, both which have been grown in different climate regions in the past but now are starting to be produced in Georgia.

The Georgia Farm Bureau produced a video describing the harvest of satsumas on a farm in Bulloch County in east-central Georgia which you might find interesting.  The farmer from Franklin Farms discusses the climate challenges with growing a citrus crop in the state.
