Did you know that the Southeast experiences a second peak in severe weather in late fall?  While the biggest newsmaker is the spring severe weather season, there are a significant number of tornadoes that occur around November, particularly in the southern parts of the country.

Weather Underground produced a story on November tornadoes today, including a list of the five biggest outbreaks on record.  Many of them occurred in the last few years.  How many do you remember?

So don’t put away your NOAA weather radios just yet (in fact, in the Southeast we can get a tornado in any month of the year, so best to keep it available all the time).  You could still see severe weather (maybe even this weekend) so keep watching the skies and pay attention to forecasts so you don’t get caught in a nasty situation.
