Even though we are on the downside of the tropical season, it is not too late to get an impactful storm.  Today Tropical Storm Joaquin is out in the Atlantic and may be headed for the North Carolina coast and the Northeast, where it could cause a lot of problems with flooding in the area.  The 7-day QPF forecast shows that up to eight inches could fall in some locations from moisture associated with our wet conditions here in the Southeast as well asand approaching cold front and the tropical storm.

As you can see from the spaghetti plot of models, the path of the storm is highly uncertain with models giving results all over the place, so the forecast is likely to change as the situation develops.  I don’t see any impacts from TS Joaquin in areas of the Southeast other than North Carolina, but if the path shifts, that could change, so keep an eye on the forecasts from the National Hurricane Center.
