The National Weather Service has just announced a new “experimental” forecast app for smartphones that may make it easier to make short-term decisions on what to do around the farm and when to do it.  This app provides a variety of weather-related information in an easy to use format which adapts to your screen size.  You can find the app at innovation.srh.noaa.gov/NWSwidget.

For a tour of what it can do, you can visit the “Weather and Agriculture: A Plains Perspective” blog from Al Sutherland in Oklahoma by clicking here.  Since it is an “experimental” product, the National Weather Service would love to have your feedback on what works and what needs to be improved.
