As folks look for ways to cut costs in 2016, I have gotten a couple questions regarding the use of acephate (Orthene and others) in the hopper box for thrips control in peanut. I searched the GA Department of Agriculture’s “Plant Industry Division Pesticide Product Registrations” web site as well as a national registration database, and I cannot find any valid acephate product label with a hopper box use. This use pattern is no longer recommended in the GA Pest Management Handbook.
