Lead with Voice – February 15, 22, 23

It’s not too late to recruit military-connected teens (8th-12th grade) from your 4-H programs, installations, and schools to participate in this year’s virtual conversation. We will host three Lead with Voice events bringing military-connected teens worldwide to share their experiences from the last season.  Conversations are hosted by their peers, and there is even an additional conversation (on the same days) for adults working with military-connected youth. We hope you have registered for a session and encouraged your locations to select one teen and adult to participate. All participants will receive a certificate for participation and tools to support their work in continuing conversations in their communities. Information is available online. Please encourage and recruit teens (and adults) through your networks. It’s a great opportunity for teens to practice communication and problem-solving skills. Their thoughts and ideas will be shared across the 4-H Military Partnership to help us create stronger programs.

We also have space for additional facilitators (ages 16 and above). Facilitators will receive brief training and lead conversations (or serve as note-takers). Facilitation information is also available online

Third Thursday Together – February 16

We are excited to welcome Purdue University Extension’s Monica Nagele and Mitch Wagoner as facilitators for this month’s Third Thursday Together webinar. The session features the Work Ready Life Skills curriculum for teens. Many first-time workers’ biggest skill gaps are problem-solving, collaboration, and communication. Work Ready teaches critical life skills our workforce needs to succeed. We will learn together about the curriculum, success stories, and how to adapt the curriculum to meet youth needs.  Pre-registration is required and available online. The session will be at 2 p.m. EST and will be recorded.

Experiential Facilitation 101 Training  Registration Open

We are excited to offer Training Wheel’s Experiential Facilitation 101 in Atlanta, Ga, April 4-6, 2023.  The course explores the foundational skills necessary for facilitators and includes 45 different facilitation skills and concepts, all taught through experiential activities. It’s three full days of engagement and learning and is certified by Training Wheels. The CYFAR PDTA grant will provide training registration (including breakfast and lunch each training day) and direct bill hotel and parking expenses at the conference hotel. Participants are responsible for transportation to the event (Atlanta, Ga) and additional meals and travel expenses.  Registration is now open, and the selection of participants will be announced on February 16. Additional participants may be added if space allows. The program is open to those working with military-connected youth in 4-H programming, and participants must commit to all three training days.
