The 4-H Military Partnership has worked with Search Institute to offer 4-H Extension and military Child and Youth Program/Service professionals a great training opportunity!

We are excited to offer two virtual training opportunities, including:

June 8th and 9th –  The Intentional Relationships Workshop

Group A – 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. CST

Group B – 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. CST

Group C – 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. CST

Relationships are too important to leave to chance. Educational success and social-emotional development blossom when caring adults and supportive peers are present in young people’s lives.  Extensive research has documented relationships as the roots of social and emotional development for youth. Yet many professionals who work directly with youth – especially youth from marginalized communities – face challenges in forming well-rounded relationships that connect with the diverse needs of youth. This workshop helps participants learn to intentionally build developmental relationships with young people to powerfully benefit youth learning and development. Participants will be able to identify approaches to building developmental relationships that are available in the Relationship Builder’s Guidebook* included in Workshop.

*You will need to be able to download the Ebook for this workshop. Consider using a personal email address for registration if your firewall will not allow for downloads.

July 15th and 16th-  Inclusive Relationship Workshop

this session will build upon information learned in the Intentional Relationships Workshop, therefore making the 1st workshop a prerequisite

Group A – 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. CST

Group B – 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. CST

Group C – 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. CST

All young people need to experience developmental relationships, but studies show that significant numbers of young people in schools and community programs do not experience developmental relationships as often or as intensively as they should. Creating an inclusive environment where all young people feel known, validated by, and connected is a prerequisite to positive youth development. Participants walk away with a personal plan to build developmental relationships with all young people, and with a series of practical tools to add to their relationship-building toolkit.

Registration Details

This training will be offered at no cost to the attendee for up to 180 participants working with military-connected youth through military Child and Youth Programs/Services or 4-H Extension. The registration request link will be open until 5:00 PM CST on Tuesday, June 2nd.

To complete the registration request form, visit https://kstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eXbIiWFwtbsV9xc

  2. At least twenty-five CYP/CYS professionals from each branch of service (Air force, Army, Navy, and Guard/Reserve) have the opportunity to attend – if requested.
  3. If there any remaining openings after these two criteria are met, acceptance for attendance will be made based upon the date of the request for registration (who applied first).

If you are selected for the training event, you will receive confirmation and workshop materials for the 1st Workshop from the Search Institute on or before June 4th. If we cannot accommodate your request to attend, a Kansas State University Project team member will notify you via email.
