Resources for GA MGEVs

Junior Master Gardener (JMG) is the international youth gardening program of the university cooperative Extension system created and managed by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.Learn how to use its rich curriculum to increase youth awareness of plants and gardening as both stand-alone activities within your community and as training for youth to become Junior Master Gardeners.

This six-week, user-friendly online course for Georgia MGEVs provides videos and activities demonstrating how to use the JMG curriculum for youth horticulture education. Course modules for independent completion are released weekly July 20 – August 31, 2024, and a live Q&A session will be held on August 16 at 2 PM via Zoom.

Participants are strongly encouraged, but not required, to have a copy of the 2016 JMG Teacher/Leader Guide . Other curricula on the JMG site are useful for the course but are not required. Check to see if your county Extension office has a leader guide you may use before ordering. Or, check with your local association to purchase a guide for group use. Consider completing this AT with MGEVs in your county and working together to implement JMG programming. Completion of all course components by the individual is required to earn 6 hours of AT credit in the YCG (Youth and Community Gardening) category.
