Resources for GA MGEVs

We enjoy a great legacy of learning here in Georgia! It begins with the initial training in which each Georgia MGEV participates. It consists of 42 hours of classroom instruction and is supplemented by our Georgia Master Gardener Handbook.

We keep learning each month through continuing education opportunities. In 2018, we began offering a free monthly webinar series for MGEVs, known as Thoughtful Thursdays. The sessions offer opportunities for MGEVs to hear from our Extension Specialists about current trends and updates in horticultural and gardening subjects. Each monthly webinar, about 30 minutes in length, is an easy way to also meet continuing education goals, whether by attending the live session or through watching the recorded webinar (accessed through your MGLOG account).

We also offer a wide array of day-long Advanced Trainings throughout the year. Our Advanced Training program has a longer history, with its origins in the early 2000s. I’ll share an overview of the AT program, including the Silver and Gold Star recognition, during the Thoughtful Thursday on November 14, 2019, at 2 pm (connect for the live session via Zoom here). Its format is typically a one-day, 6-hour training, though we have offered several with a distance format.

We want to continue a legacy of strong, effective education and learning for Georgia MGEVs. To guide us in that process, will you kindly share your opinions on our Thoughtful Thursday series and Advanced Training program? I have created a short, online survey for each training type (links below). Each survey takes about 5-10 minutes to answer the simple questions. The surveys are anonymous, so feel free to give your honest assessment. Please share your responses by December 15, 2019, so that we can incorporate your suggestions into our 2020 agenda.

Thank you!
