Today kicks off the 101st Annual Meeting and Professional Improvement conference of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents in Little Rock, Arkansas. Much of your GACAA leadership and members are here attending this week receiving recognition, presenting the great work we do in Georgia, and learning new ideas from fellow Agricultural Agents from across the country.
As your State Secretary, I will do my best to keep you up to date on the activities and events that your GACAA members are doing and learning this week. If you are a member attending the conference and have something you think I should share, please send me an email at pjburke@uga.edu.
To start my trip off, my husband and I arrived in Arkansas early and had the opportunity to dig in the dirt at the Wegner Quartz Crystal Mines in Mount Ida, Arkansas. For a few hours we looked for crystals and quartz in the trailings pile and came back with a bucket full of treasures. Who knew that Mount Ida, Arkansas is known as the Quartz Crystal Capital of the World?! www.wegnercrystalmines.com
We hope to find more treasures in the ideas we bring home and the new friends we make. And of course its wonderful to reconnect with our dear friends from across the county that are already our “treasured’ friends.
