As harvest season approaches, cotton and peanut growers are beginning to make important decisions concerning cotton defoliation and peanut maturity. UGA Extension will host the 2026 Cotton & Peanut Maturity Update on Wednesday, September 16, at the Georgia Grown Resource Center in Metter.
Breakfast will begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by updates and discussion focused on current crop conditions and harvest management. The program will cover cotton defoliation, including considerations for properly timing harvest-aid applications, as well as peanut maturity and determining the appropriate time to dig.
The meeting is hosted by UGA Extension Candler and Evans Counties and the Georgia Grown Resource Center. We would also like to thank Growers Supply & Gin Warehouse, Candler Gin & Warehouse Co., and CPI Seed (Candler Peanut) for sponsoring the program and helping provide breakfast for those attending.
