Rain the past week has improved drought conditions in northern Florida but severe drought expanded in southeastern Georgia and has now extended into the far southern tip of South Carolina according to the latest Drought Monitor released today. Moderate drought has also expanded in southern Florida due to the lack of rain there.

The latest Drought Monitor shows that severe drought has expanded in southeastern Georgia. Abnormally dry conditions shrunk in Alabama but expanded in South Carolina. These trends are likely to continue in the next week as most of the rain that is expected will fall in central and north Alabama and Georgia.

The latest Drought Monitor, released on Thursday, show that an area of severe drought has been added to southeastern Georgia in response to very warm temperatures and lack of rainfall. Moderate drought was introduced to the South Carolina coast as well. Drought was removed from northeastern Alabama and northwestern Georgia due to copious rain there.
