The preliminary climate summary maps for the Southeast show that the temperature across the region was much warmer than normal everywhere, in some cases ten or more degrees above normal. Final reports on Hurricane Hermine and Tropical Storm Julia are now available from the National Hurricane Center. You can find the one for Hermine at https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/data/tcr/AL092016_Hermine.pdf and the one for Julia at https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/data/tcr/AL112016_Julia.pdf. The report for Hurricane Matthew is still being finalized and will be available in a few weeks.

NOAA and NASA released separate reports today on the 2016 global climate. Both agencies using separate methods determined that 2016 was the warmest year on record, beating out last year’s record.
