Farmers know that climate variability can affect their crop yields and health from one year to the next. Long-term changes in climate are also expected to affect crops by changing the length of the growing season, changing the temperature and precipitation their fields receive, and potentially changing the amount of sunlight that gets to the crops due to changes in cloud cover. A recent study shows that warmer and drier conditions expected in many areas over the next few decades could also make food less nutritious by affecting the amount of micronutrients that are being captured by the food plants.
