You know if you’ve been reading this blog that we missed out on a bunch of rain this week. The lucky winner instead was Louisiana, which had estimated rain totals as much as 30 inches so far, and it is still raining. Here are a couple of stories about the flooding.
Steve Hilberg wrote about the flooding in the CoCoRaHS blog at https://cocorahs.blogspot.com/2016/08/louisiana-deluge.html. In his blog post he talks about some of the observations that were made by CoCoRaHS observers and the meteorology of the storm.
Ada Carr wrote a Wunder Blog post on the impacts of the rain on the community and all of the flooding that has occurred there, including several deaths.
Here is a photo taken by UGA PhD grad Dr. Alan Black, who just moved to Baton Rouge to start work at Louisiana State University. This is a road that is underwater from the rain near his house.
