The warm weather this week has broken record high temperatures in many locations around the Southeast.  This Southeast Regional Climate Center Perspectives map shows the stations with new records (ranked #1) across the region.  Records were also broken on previous days.  These warm temperatures are contributing to the well above normal temperatures for March as a whole.  They are also contributing to the early flowering of trees and shrubs and the massive profusion of pollen into the air.  Orchards in many locations are reporting blooming trees, even in the mountainous areas at higher elevations.  This could be a problem for some frost-prone areas in the next week as temperatures drop to more normal or even below-normal conditions and the chance of frost increases.
