NOAA released their 3-month outlooks for May through July this week, covering the first part of summer. They show that while temperatures are continuing to be likely warmer than normal due to rising temperatures, the chances for normal or wetter than normal conditions are now higher than they have been for quite a while, which will be good for crops and reduce the need for irrigation if that occurs. The highest chances are near the Gulf and East Coasts, with lower chances farther inland. That could reduce the drought in some areas, although the long-range forecasts indicate it is likely to continue into the next few months in other areas.
