The fall colors of the trees in my neighborhood in Georgia are really starting to come out, although they are not nearly as close to peak as those in the Southern Appalachian Mountains shown in Facebook images that my friends are posting as they travel up to the northeast this weekend. Fall is one of my favorite seasons because of the dramatic changes in color that deciduous trees go through this time of year and I am always interested to read more about how that transition comes about. Here is an article from the American Meteorological Society blog on how these color changes occur and how they are related to the weather that the trees experience before they go through their fall change.
