The latest 7-day tropical outlook from the National Hurricane Center shows that there is an area that is being watched for development in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. It is currently designated as Investigation 95 but it is 90% likely to become Tropical Storm Lee in the next week. While it is currently on a path to reach the eastern Caribbean islands in about a week as a hurricane, there is plenty of time for us to watch it before we need to take any action. The current computer models are showing that it is likely to follow a path that passes north of Puerto Rico and then turns north before it reaches the United States, but we will continue to watch it for any changes to the forecast. Gert and Katia are expected to dissipate tomorrow and the area in yellow, if it develops, is likely to stay far out to sea, so nothing else in in the horizon for now. The remains of Idalia and Franklin have turned from tropical to extratropical storms so they are no longer showing on this map. Both are moving away from the Southeast, although there is a chance that the remains of Idalia could hit the eastern Canadian provinces in a few days.
