The latest ENSO outlook from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center shows that the La Niña watch is continuing.  Remember that La Niña conditions have to continue for several months before it becomes an official event. At this point there is no likelihood of El Niño this winter but still some chance of neutral conditions, although that is considered less likely than La Niña. That means warmer, sunnier and drier than normal conditions are likely this winter, especially in Florida and in southern Georgia and Alabama as the subtropical jet blows storms to the north over the Ohio River basin. Neutral conditions are expected to return in spring. You can read the latest ENSO blog at https://www.climate.gov/news-features/blogs/enso/october-2017-enso-update-still-watching-la-ni%C3%B1a.
