The latest Drought Monitor, released today, shows that drought conditions were reduced in a broad area of southern AL and GA and in northern Florida due to recent rains. However, higher elevation areas away from the coast, including northern AL and GA and western SC and NC as well as a lot of Tennessee saw drought conditions increase due to the lack of rain there. A few scattered additional areas in the Florida Peninsula as well as in Virginia also saw worsening drought. In Puerto Rico, abnormally dry conditions (D0) continued to expand across the island but no drought has been designated yet.
