This is another week when the only rain that is expected will occur over the weekend, as another cold front passes through the region. The air behind the front will be cold and dry and no precipitation is expected except perhaps for a few snow flurries in lower areas in the north and some light snow in higher elevations on Monday as the cold air moves in. Behind it we can expect freezing temperatures for some areas as early as Monday morning and even colder and more widespread freezes on Tuesday morning. The killing frost may reach all the way down into northern Florida, so if you have exposed pipes or tender vegetation, you will need to protect them from freeze damage. If you have tomatoes or other vegetables still out in your garden, now is the time to bring them in before they turn into frozen mush. Fortunately, after the cold on Tuesday morning, temperatures will start to increase again later in the week and we could be back into the 70s by next weekend in some areas.
