The latest 7-day QPF map shows that early in the week, most of the rain will fall in northern parts of the region and along the Appalachian Mountains. During the rest of the week, the focus will be on the Gulf Coast and Florida, where the remains of Investigation 93 may rotate around the high pressure that is currently over us and bring a second round of heavy rain to the area near and offshore from the Gulf Coast. Other areas will continue to see sporadic and widely scattered rain showers, but not much will accumulate over the week. The hot temperatures may contribute to increases in drought coverage in next week’s map. There is a possibility that the disturbance may develop enough to become a named storm but it is not too likely and the National Hurricane Center is not even showing it as a possibility in the next week.
