The latest ENSO update, released earlier this week by NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, indicates that we are currently in neutral ENSO conditions. This is expected to continue through the end of 2025, although the percentage likelihood of La Nina conditions are nearly as likely late in 2025 and early in 2026. There is a small possibility of El Nino conditions as well but it does not amount to much more than 10 percent in any of the forecast periods. The neutral conditions expected to be in place over the next few months are one of the contributing factors to the prediction of another more active Atlantic tropical season this year.
