The latest 7-day QPF map shows that much of the region will get rain, but the chances are low this weekend except for the immediate East Coast and the Florida Peninsula. Rain chances increase later in the week for the rest of the region as the high pressure (and associated really hot temperatures) moves off and slightly cooler weather moves back into the region. As you know, summertime rain (except for in tropical systems) is very scattered and spotty so some areas will get hit hard while other areas nearby may see only a sprinkle or even none at all. The tropics look like they will be quiet for the next couple weeks, which is not unusual for July. So no relief there.
