The latest 7-day QPF map shows that everywhere in the region is expected to receive some rain, but amounts will be relatively light in the Piedmont regions of GA and the Carolinas. The heaviest rain amounts are expected to be in southern Florida, which already saw a significant change last week with all the rain from the sloppy tropical system which dropped over a foot of rain in many areas. Temperatures are expected to remain fairly high, so water stress may lead to the conversion of abnormally dry areas to moderate drought (see related post). Above normal temperatures are expected to last through mid-July along with drier than normal conditions for most of the region except Florida and the Gulf Coast. The rainiest period for inland areas is likely to be mid-week with more rain occurring in Florida and coastal areas in the next few days as well as late in the week.
