The latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows that all areas of drought have been improved by one category. This resulted in the removal of all extreme (D3) drought from the region. Rain in the southern half of the region should continue to improve things there, although North Carolina and Virginia will see little rain in the next week and could see some increases. In Week 2, warmer than normal temperatures are likely, with a slight tendency towards wetter than normal conditions. Puerto Rico’s drought status had only very slight adjustments from last week.
