With just a few days left in the official 2023 Atlantic hurricane season, the tropics are still holding out hope for another named storm. A frontal boundary is expected to stall over the central Atlantic, and since the water there is so warm, a non-tropical low could briefly transition into a tropical storm within the next week. If it gets named, it would be Vince. While it’s not likely that we would get another storm after that, we have been occasionally surprised by a December storm, so don’t count out the season quite yet. The little yellow dot north of South America is not expected to develop.
