After almost no rain at my house for most of the last month, I got a measly 0.03 inches in the gauge this morning. But good news! Those of us who have been lacking in moisture for the last few weeks will be happy to hear that rain has reappeared in the forecast for all of the Southeast. For most of the area away from the coasts and to the north, we can expect about an inch, with the exception of western NC and VA. For those who are closer to the coasts, you may get several inches as a front stalls out in the region. That will make field work difficult for several days after all the rain due to soggy field conditions, and may affect both cotton and peanut harvesting. Lower amounts will also be occurring in southern Florida. None of this rain will occur in the next couple of days, but the rain will be copious by mid-week. Showers will continue through the end of the week but with lower accumulations. Week 2 looks like it will return to drier conditions, so enjoy the rain while you can. I know some of you have seen a lot more rain than the rest of us (looking at you, southern Florida!) so you may be less happy to see the rain that most of us who have been high and dry.
