After going through weeks of warm and dry weather, we will see a change this week as a couple of fronts move through the region. The first round of rain should occur on Sunday, followed by a couple of dry and cool days before the next storm system moves in near the end of the week and brings more rain.
Once the first front moves past, colder air will move in, and some areas as far south as central AL and GA could see frost on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Areas farther south will probably not see freezing conditions in the first round, although you should watch the forecasts carefully as later updates could change that. After the second storm system moves through, there could be a stronger shot of cold air, so even if you miss the first frost, that does not mean you are out of the woods. The rain should stop the recent expansion of drought in most of the region and could improve it in some areas.
