The latest 7-day QPF map shows that rain amounts should increase this week for most of the region. That is welcome news for producers who have been struggling with the dry and hot conditions. Over the weekend, most of the rain will be concentrated along the Gulf Coast, but by Tuesday rain should cover a lot of the southern half of the region, with more rain later in the week. Amounts should generally be about an inch, with less in North Carolina and Virginia. The cloud cover will also help keep temperatures lower. The longer-range forecast shows us with a continued chance of above-normal temperatures, but with an improved chance for rain.
