The latest 5-day outlook from the National Hurricane Center shows two areas of interest for the Southeast. The area with the higher probability of becoming a named storm is in the Main Development Area of the Atlantic Ocean, with a 60 percent chance of becoming a named storm. The models today generally showing this will continue west into Central America so should not be of concern for us here in the Southeast. The smaller area in the northwestern Gulf has just a 20% chance of developing into a named storm but is likely to give Louisiana and other areas of the Southeast some needed rain regardless of whether it gets named or not. Some of that moisture will contribute to our rain this week.
